Ykelenstam's Kandid Kamara, born May 18, 2002, known to those who love her as Kamara, dearest mini to her Daddy's heart and loved by her whole family. She is the first puppy we kept of our own breeding, from Remi's first litter. Kamara has had four beautiful litters of pups, and we kept two of her daughters to carry on with, Mercy and Motion who both did us proud as moms to more wonderful Ykelenstam babies. Kamara was always an awesome attentive mother, always caring perfectly for her babies and anyone else's babies that needed it. We will always be grateful for her super mothering attitude, as it was she that raised Moxie's newborn litter of 6 at the same time Kamara was raising her own litter of 7, after dear Moxie died during a c-section. It is thanks to Kamara that those pups survived and thrived on her attention and grew up to be wonderful loving babies for their owners. Kamara had a very close call as a young adult when she choked on a piece of food while her litter at that time was about 3 weeks old. She stopped breathing and went unconscious, and with breaking hearts we rushed her to the vet knowing we would never make it in time to be of any use, we felt we had lost her... and on the way there the food dislodged and she started to breathe, and although she was raspy for a day or so, we were lucky and so very thankful that she survived. Kamara is now spayed and will continue to live the life of luxury with the next generation in 2011, her great-great-grandkids to raise. Depsite losing her left eye in 2010 due to trauma and ensuing complications, she keeps her days filled with roo-rooing when she wants attention, and waiting by the window to see if Daddy is coming home yet, with occasional time for eating, playing with other dogs and keeping vigilant watch when outside to make sure no squirrels or birds dare to intrude in her space. She spends her nights snuggling with Mommy and Daddy in bed! |
