I live in the US (New Jersey) and diligently followed the growth of a litter of your puppies last year because it matched pretty closely the age of the puppy I was waiting to receive. I found your site to be helpful in terms of knowledge - and joyful to watch "my" puppy grow. I chose a black and silver male to "follow" as that was what my "Milo" is. The breeder that I worked with in southern New Jersey had very high standards of ethics in terms of her breeding, she just did not have a web site! Congratulations to you on the stand that you have taken with respect to ears and tails. I applaud your position and sincerely hope that more breeders follow your lead. Good luck to you and your family of beautiful schnauzers - and Tequila, too,of course!

Your Dog(s) and the pups are beautiful! We rise minis as well and I always wonder about leaving the tail on this maybe a consideration in our future. I would be interested in a B/S female in the very near future. All of our Dogs and their pups are whelped in our house and to our dogs sleep eat in our home and our very well house train.

Your message was just what I was looking for. We too have decided not to dock the tail or clip the ears of our precious Princess Bernadette Zoie. After reading your article and seeing the beaugtiful pup was all we needed to know that we had decided correctly. Thank you!

I am a first time visitor to your site and I want to let you know your puppies are beautiful. I am also very glad that you are not docking ears and tails. I have two mini schnauzer myself with uncropped ears also I have a giant schnauzer who we rescued a few years back. When we are walking with our "kids" we are constantly told we have a wonderful family.

Beautiful dogs/puppies. We have a male salt and pepper named "Out of Ashes" (Ash or Ashes for short) in memory of our two deceased schnauzers Toby & Lacey. Ashes is 10 months old and a going concern being both lovable and friendly to everyone he meets. We are a schnauzer family. My sister has one and also our son and nephew. My brother is a breeder in Bracebridge Ontario and has produced beautiful friendly and well proportioned dogs. Love checking out websites to gain additional information on breeding practices, grooming tips and problems that are encountered over the years. Nice to see that tail cropping is hopefully on its way out. Keep up the good work! Wonderful website!

Sincerely, Jim & Sandra Hetherington

I absolutely love schnauzer dogs! My family had a schnauzerpoo for 17 yrs before she passed and I've missed her ever since! I'm looking to get a dog within the next year or so and was doing some research on what type of dog I want and right now, I'm torn between a schnauzer, a terrier, a cocker spaniel or a labrodor as a large dog. I came to this site see if a schnauzer is compatible w/ my lifestyle as I am out of the home most of the day.

I've been thinking about getting a doggie and have been looking up and reading about different breeds. The shanauzer is one of the ones I think I'd like although there are so many out there I'd probably like. It's hard to choose. I definitely like that their tail and ears are not cropped. How awful for those babies to have to go through that. Cruelty to animals is a definite NO, NO in my life. congratulations on your wisdom in not doing this. God bless you!

They are like our children and we love and care for them and there puppies the same way. We love to share info with other breeders and share loving stories of our experiences. Best wishes to you and all your puppy family. :)

Hi there
You have a fantastic website I find quite comforting to look at and I celebrate your 2007 goal of not cropping tails.
We put our sweet Sparky (Mister Sparky of Opalmis, black and silver) to sleep June 22 after a 2 month illness; he was born in 1993.
I wonder how long most schnauzers live.
We miss him dreadfully.
Thanks for your picture filled site.
All the best

I have a pure black mini and I absolutely love him. His name is Casey and he is 2 1/2. I always wondered what their tails looked like. I think that they look great. It suits them. Casey's tail was done but not his ears. If I were to get another I would look for one that has the tail left natural. Good for you for taking that stand.

I love your babies. I have a Black and Silver Toby. He's the main man here in Louisville  . I have had so many compliments on him. I wish now I would have bred him. This is a wonderful breed. When I take Toby out and people see how he acts, and want a dog people have actually reconsidered the breed that they were going to get. Thank you, for showing your dogs online.

We found your site on the internet and really enjoy it. It made us so happy to see schanuzers and reading about the great environment you provide for them. How wonderful to have such a great family of Schnauzers. We had our boy(Toby) for 16 years and miss him dearly! They are such wonderful animals to have. We hope to find another schnauzer to make our family complete real soon.

We have just been lucky enough to welcome our beautiful Greta into our home and are absolutely delighted. She was born on the day I was diagnosed with breast cancer and she is a constant joy and comfort during my treatment. She makes me so positive and I am sure that we are going to enjoy many many happy times getting to know such a beautiful dog and such a smart and affectionate breed. Your web site is full of so much useful information I am very excited to have found it.

I adore your family of wooly wonders. I have purchased my first "Mini" and I swear she is human. She talks. She is white and beautiful. I have a 15 yr old shepard and a 2yr old Rot. But "Phoebe Jo" (mini)rules the roost! She grooms the"Old Man" Shepard and loves "Ozzie" the Rot. Im a bit confused on the issue of White Minis and AKC but who cares. I am interested in breeding Phoebe. She has had 1 "heat". Can you shed some light on this for me. I love the care and concern you have for your family and i want to do it right. We live in the beautiful town of Ruidoso New Mexic USA. I can send some photos if you like.

Enjoyed your website very much. I have wanted a Mini since I was a child and have just in the last month (at age 35) been adopted by a wonderful black female Mini. Her name is Macee and she has quickly become Daddy's litte girl! Although her tail was already docked, I refuse to crop her ears. My hat is off to your new policy to not dock or crop! As it will be just she and I my plans are to spoil her rotten!

Where's Whysper??? I thought she was your most beautiful schnauzer. I loved her rare, silvery look. Your dogs look so well taken care of. My neighbour has a black male from one of your litters three years ago.

Webmaster Comments:
We have just added her to our retired dogs page.

I originally found your webpage just looking for grooming tips for my schnauzer "Ernie". I have had him for 4 years now and i don't think I would ever have another breed. I always had Labs when my boys were home, but now, as I get older I found the perfect dog. He has the disposition of a Lab, but in a small compact SHED FREE body. I really enjoy my mini and I loved looking at your pictures. Your dogs are adorable. Thanks for sharing.

I love your site. I have 2 Mini Schnauzers that I adopted when they were 5 and 6 years old and now they are 9 and 10. They bring me a lot of joy and love. I clip them myself and was quite interested in your grooming techniques. Thankyou. Very well done.

We are proud to say that we have been adopted by an Ykelenstam puppy. Oscar was born Dec 7, 2006. He is a very sociable little guy and has made our home come alive. He is always ready for a new adventure and loves to cuddle. What can we say-we just love him! :P

We love our Miniature Schnauzers very much but are sad to be watching our almost 14-year old decline. She has a lung tumour, some ascites, and recently had a crisis with an immune mediated disorder which was likely a reaction to her tumour.

Our younger mini is lovely and we had the good fortune to have the choice to leave her tail intact. Her tail is such a great indicator of her quirky personality and we love to watch her wag her enthusiasm.

Neither of our dogs has docked ears and that any breeder would insist on inflicting this kind of barbaric ritual on a dog hurts me to consider.

I loved your article and wish that you were a little closer to BC!

Hello:

I just wanted to say how wonderful your website is. We are getting a Mini Schnauzer (who was just born a week ago). We are very excited and it has been so wonderful to actually see pictures of what the puppies will look like at certain ages and to be able to read up on all the information about this breed. I have definitely booked this as a favourite site to visit. Thank you!
